How to Create Daily Success Rituals that Influence Goal Achievement

Imagine this: It’s January 1, 2021.

You’re holding up a glass of bubbly to cheers your friends (probably over zoom) to seeing a new year. So many beautiful souls left this world amongst the unanticipated chaos of the previous year, but you’re still here to fulfill your life’s purpose.

In the midst of new year’s celebrations, you take a quiet moment for yourself and silently reflect on your journey over the past year. 2020 threw some serious hurdles at you, but you pushed through them with amazing grace.

You achieved success in however you define it, and you’re ready to continue working diligently towards the life you desire well into 2021 and beyond.

And it’s all thanks to those Daily Success Rituals that helped you stay focused on fulfilling your big picture goals! 

Okay, now we’re back to the present, and you’re probably wondering what the heck these Daily Success Rituals are and how you can incorporate them into your lifestyle.

Habits vs. Rituals

Habits consist of routine behaviors and practices that are hard to give up. Habits often occur subconsciously, meaning you don’t have to put much mental effort into deciding to complete the behavior. 

For example, washing your hands after using the restroom is (hopefully) a universal habit.

Rituals are generally attached to religious practices, but for the sake of being inclusive, let’s think of rituals a bit differently. 

Newly defined, we can think of rituals as series of actions that have order and intention behind them. 

For example, exercising is a ritual that begins with the intention to improve your physical health and continues through a series of actions including putting on exercise clothes, creating space to exercise, choosing a workout to complete, and putting your body through the workout. 

A Secret Weapon?

Are rituals the secret to finally achieving those short and long-term goals? For some of us, they may very well be!

Rituals require effort and intention.

Through daily effort and intention, rituals eventually become helpful habits that move us closer to achieving our goals.

Remember that rituals consist of a series of actions that have order and intention. Get as specific as you can with the action steps that you need to achieve your Daily Success Rituals, and remember that progress is better than perfection when it comes to implementing these into your life.
